The Penelope Gandhi Mission at the Benaki Museum

The Benaki Museum hosted the official celebrations of the 100 years from the Union of Crete with Greece

Weavers from different areas of Crete visited the Central building of the Benaki Museum and during its hours of operation,

At the same time, every Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning (except for the weekend 16 and 17/11/2013),

At the end of each presentation, there was a 15-minute speech of experts (teachers, archaeologists, historians, nationalographers, etc.) and a discussion with the public.

On Sunday, November 10, a special event was held at the restaurant of the Central Building, a special event for the launch of the “Mission Penelope ”. At the same time, until the end of December, nights were organized with herbs, flavors and tsikoudies from Crete.

The events were plagued by a specially designed Educational Program, which was addressed to primary and secondary schools.

The Benaki Museum hosts on the occasion of the official celebrations of the 100 years from the Union of Crete with Greece <TAG1 the Holy Art of the Fabric in Crete» with a series of events.

This Mission is an innovative, voluntary, non-subsidized initiative of the University of the Mountains of Crete. it has as a concern the rescue and revival of the sacred art of the Fabric in Crete, the goal of its transmission from the last muscle

Fabrics from different areas of Crete come to the Central building of the Benaki Museum and, during its operating hours, ascending
