Exhibition at St. Mark’s Basilica

The first action took place on November 1, 2012, with a fortnightly Exhibition-Interaction, at the Basilica of St. Mark in Heraklion. As part of the Exhibition, four looms from the four prefectures of Crete operated with folk weavers, who interpreted the art of the loom in a normal way. The process from the clean field, to the pure sheep, to the creation of the yarn that is natural, cotton, wool, silk and flax, dyed with colors from nature. To interpret us for time that is not money, it is not measured by man-hours but is the foundation of their being, breathing, thought, fate and lament, singing along with glory and doctrine.

The team of the Penelope Gandhi Mission also organized speeches, small studies, under the guidance and protection of the great Greek Mrs. Helene Glykatzi-Ahrweiler and in collaboration with special female personalities, who came for the Mission from India, Persia, Palestine, talked with the local weavers and children, presenting the common motivos, xoblia and ploumia, that their homelands and Crete have.
