Modern societies consist mainly of urban conglomerates while the regions are being depopulated and isolated groups of people are shrinking in numbers and marginalized.
This is an extraordinary cultural transformation which is beyond the level of personal control, where public manipulation is effected through the ‘cold and flat’ culture of television and the temptation of plastic money, all of which undermine personal freedom. Add to these the wasteful use of natural resources, the idea that quality of life means accumulation of material wealth and leisure for recreation. Consequently, people set their priorities wrong and by their actions corrupt the ideal of Education.
